Getting Back on Track

So sorry for the long delay between posts. I have been procrastinating updating this blog because I've been thinking a lot about my mom. Mom recently found out she has cancer.

Mom had breast cancer back in 2003, had surgery, chemo and radiation treatment. She thought she beat it. But cancer hung on. She found out four weeks ago that her breast cancer never left. In fact it spread to her liver, lungs, bones and neck lymph nodes. These have been frightening days for my 59 year old mom, for my dad, and for all of our family.

My mom was told the average person lives 2 years with her cancer. And that is if the chemo helps. It might be a few months, and it might be more than a few years. We really don't know.

So on this blog geared on loving our great, small city of Woodstock, I've not had much to say. It's been a rough few weeks. But one of the wonderful "severe mercies" of facing the prospect of death of a loved one is that you stop taking for granted the beauty around you.

I encourage you not to wait for bad times to see the beauty around you. It's there to be enjoyed now, and we have so much to be thankful for.
