Chicago Healthcare

There is rarely a time I'm not thankful that I live in the Chicagoland area. We have access to art, culture, music, poetry, and a myriad of things my kids love and appreciate.

Today I'm most thankful that we live near the University of Chicago and their neurosurgery department. My wife has been recently diagnosed with Chiari 1 Malformation (more info here, here, here and here). Her symptoms are pretty bad and getting worse: numbness in her limbs, nausea, weakness, balance issues, and more. That means she is approaching brain surgery.

We are pretty freaked out by all this, as you can imagine, but we are trusting that God will take care of her. She is getting a neurosurgery consultation in 8 days and will likely (we hope) have surgery by the end of June. It seems that surgery will bring good results. We are very hopeful.
